The book is better, read it first.

Itsbeginningtolookalotlike · 18/12/2023 21:10

Not worth the time, terrible ending.

ButterfliesnWaterfalls · 18/12/2023 21:11

Hmm. A bit strange.

Haven’t read the book but the movie was eerily interesting.

TigerOnTour · 18/12/2023 21:12

I liked it. Very creepy though and an unsatisfying end!

Margotshypotheticaldog · 18/12/2023 21:12

Swerve

flowerchild2000 · 18/12/2023 21:12

It's an allegory about the downfall of the US. It's depressing because it's true. But it's still good from an artistic perspective. If you're not familiar with current events in the US from 2016-now you might not get it as many have expressed in other threads here.

FaiIureToLunch · 18/12/2023 21:13

I like it because of the damp squib ending actually. Life doesn’t always end in neat cliffhangers. I’ve thought about it a lot since watching it, it’s got me into all things dystopian actually 😂😂😂😂

Thetwilightscone · 18/12/2023 21:14

I really really enjoyed it!

lauramum85 · 18/12/2023 21:14

The ending is the worst! I actually fumed that I sat and watched it for nearly 2 hours for it to end the way it did.

SmugglersHaunt · 18/12/2023 21:15

It could easily be an hour shorter. Take a good book

caggie3 · 18/12/2023 21:15

It sent me into an absolute spiral about the future of the world and what hell I have potentially inflicted on my children by giving birth to them. I was awake most of the night tossing and turning. My husband enjoyed it though GrinBlush

WashItTomorrow · 18/12/2023 21:15

I liked it. I’ve been thinking about it a lot.

alpenguin · 18/12/2023 21:15

It’s a slow burn but it’s cerebral.

I liked the ending

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/12/2023 21:17

I'd like a What Happened Next

Mushroo · 18/12/2023 21:17

I enjoyed it. It felt quirky and fresh.

The ending was good!

galaxybeyond · 18/12/2023 21:17

Ummmm not feeling it. Will swerve!
Any other recommendations for a good film

I like a bit of dystopia but I did not enjoy this particular film.

TigerOnTour · 18/12/2023 21:18

Don't Look Up

LinneM · 18/12/2023 21:19

Awful

mumda · 18/12/2023 21:21

Actually for one of the cast ot ends better than it could have done.

qpdlurgak · 18/12/2023 21:22

I enjoyed it, there's a lot of controversy around the ending but I think most who don't like it missed the point of it. But if like my husband you're after an apocalyptic action film with plot twists and events unfolding (which I also enjoy) this isn't it.

RaisinsOfMildAnnoyance · 18/12/2023 21:25

I found it interesting, Hitchcock-ian, a claustrophobic sort of slow burn horror. Some of it was a bit overwrought, but it is American after all. It made me think, which I liked. Definitely worthwhile.

Tronkmanton · 18/12/2023 21:27

Dreadful waste of time, don’t bother.

HRTQueen · 18/12/2023 21:37

I liked the way it was filmed lots of shots from above

but things didn’t make sense too much is left out and didn’t piece together

I didn’t get the ending. I watched it last weekend and still haven’t bothered to look it up

Hurdygurdy12 · 18/12/2023 21:41

I honestly don’t understand how you can’t get the ending. My 16 year old understood what it meant. Tying it up into a neat package would have defeated the whole object of the film:

In answer to your question OP, it’s a corker if you enjoy moderately intelligent movies and are ok without every question being answered for you.
