Is anyone else quite averse to musical instruments?

I love music, listen to music all the time. I grew up in a musical household but I never had an interest in learning an instrument myself. My dad was an excellent violinist. My mum is a good pianist and teaches piano part time. She has 2 pianos in her house. My soon to be ex husband is a musician who plays the piano and drums.

Yet the sound of musical instruments sets my teeth on edge. I was in my mum's house a few weeks ago and the sound of her pupils' playing the piano set my teeth on edge. I dread the day my kids come home asking to learn an instrument.

Does anyone else feel like this?! I am tolerant of most things - maybe too tolerant when it comes to the kids. I know this is extreme though!

I don't like the sound of piano. All my siblings play it. It just sounds too loud! I do like listening to them on record perhaps they're not for normal house rooms.
