Porridge for dinner, weird?

Splendidsunbird · 18/12/2023 16:58

That's what I'm having for dinner. Just me to feed tonight and I have cream and blueberries so I am going to make a bowl of extremely luxurious porridge and enjoy snuggled on the sofa with Netflix on.
DP thinks that's weird, I can't wait.

Not weird... Just quick and healthy. I wouldnt serve it at a dinner party though 😂

persisted · 18/12/2023 17:20

Not weird, sounds delicious. Although I'd add a spoon of cocoa and nut butter, for greed (sorry, protein obvs)
Sometimes I have an all day breakfast for dinner, or fruit crumble for breakfast.
All the same.

RoseMartha · 18/12/2023 17:21

Not weird. I ate that for dinner when it was just me the other week. I didn't have cream and blueberries in it though.

Hope you enjoy it and your evening

CharlottePimpernel · 18/12/2023 17:27

Nope. Me and DD have it for dinner quite often.

CanaryCanary · 18/12/2023 17:31

I have shreddies for dinner roughly once a week, don’t see an issue with it tbh.

Wendysfriend · 18/12/2023 17:35

Having breakfast stuff for dinner wouldn't be unusual here. I'm the type who thinks you can eat whatever you want when you want. Although I wouldn't call porridge luxurious 😂

Juststuff23 · 18/12/2023 17:38

My 2 had porridge for dinner tonight couldn't be arsed to cook.

Ontopofthesunset · 18/12/2023 17:51

I mean, I think it sounds fine and whatever floats your boat, but it doesn't sound particularly luxurious nor something that's worth really looking forward to - it takes 5 minutes to make so you could have it for every meal if you wanted. I'm not a fan of sweet things for dinner myself, and would probably choose pasta aglio oglio if I were alone, but I wouldn't be very hyped up about it.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 18/12/2023 17:52

Weirdly I've had it for lunch twice recently and really enjoyed it. I put loads of grated apple and chopped pear in. It was delicious

Ahhh but chopping and grating fruit in, zesting juicing clementines and it's actually a soothing labour of love therefore quite a luxury especially with grated chocolate to finish

starfishmummy · 18/12/2023 17:54

If it's what you fancy then why not?!!

Splendidsunbird · 18/12/2023 18:10

Well it was lovely and hit the comfort food spot nicely.

Nice. Had similar half an hour ago with dried cranberries and almonds. Perfect.

LittleMissSunshinePants · 18/12/2023 18:17

Ooh porridge for dinner is quite nice, and easy! We had it for dinner last night in fact after a roast for lunch. No one especially hungry but a warm filling porridge with blueberries and chopped banana was perfect supper before bed

Tobenot4 · 18/12/2023 18:18

Not unusual for me - that, or a nice bowl of muesli!

DatingDinosaur · 18/12/2023 18:18

Not weird at all. I often used to do this as a quick, warm, filling (and healthy) meal when I was working 2 jobs and only had a 45 minute turn-around time (to get home from job 1, freshen up, get changed, get something to eat and get to job 2.

Enjoy!

MissyB1 · 18/12/2023 18:19

I have it for lunch most days, I could happily eat it for dinner too! I add lots of mixed seeds and a banana.

Irridescantshimmmer · 18/12/2023 18:21

Overnight oats with banana and a generous amount of raisins!

Porridge is my favourite and I just have to try it with blueberries too.

At any time of the day 😁

BeansOnToast32 · 18/12/2023 18:22

I've got zero appetite at the moment after stopping Mirtazapine and I've had porridge as my main meal a few times lately, it's the only thing I can face.

My favourite is oats, full fat milk, scoop of collagen powder and 2 chopped Medjool Dates cooked on the hob. It's like sticky toffee pudding porridge.

Also had "mince pie" porridge by adding a big spoon of mincemeat.

Splendidsunbird · 18/12/2023 18:37

Wow, sticky toffee pudding style porridge, sounds awesome

I love a big bowl of porridge with cream and fruit for dinner if I'm home alone

NorthernGirlie · 18/12/2023 18:41

It's my go-to lone dinner (that or a chicken nuggets butty!)

Dh also thinks I'm weird.
Full fat milk, trail mix, mixed seeds and honey. Yum!

WartyDoris · 18/12/2023 18:48

I like my dinner porridge with crunchy peanut butter, chocolate powder, cinnamon and rum soaked raisins

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 18/12/2023 18:49

Not weird.

I often have porridge or cereal if it's just me.

dizzydizzydizzy · 18/12/2023 18:55

Not weird but not for me. I'd have cheese on toast with tomatoes
