Ideas for NYE around London

We're currently visiting the UK and will be flying out of London on Jan 2nd. We're looking for ideas for NYE.

We've missed tickets for the London fireworks (and might have found it too busy anyway). Any ideas for something fun for a family with tweens/ early teens to do on NYE?

It doesn't have to be only at midnight. Where we're from family fireworks at 9pm are popular, is that a thing here?

Happy to travel an hour or two for something good.

Hmm London can be a bit of a nightmare at NYE. Apart from the outdoor fireworks a lot of the parties will be in pubs and clubs and alcohol focussed, so not suitable for under 18s. Perhaps book a nice meal for early evening - the key thing is to plan ahead early and book as London will be full of people being aimless.
