I am in receipt of UC but finding it more stressful than its worth. I'm self employed and have decided to close the claim in the new year but will I still get the next cost of living payment if I do? The assessement period is 13 November 2023 to 12 December 2023, and I am currently in receipt of the benefit.
I didn't get the last cost of living payment due to a mistake by the job centre (they lost all my paperwork when I first made a claim delaying it by 2 months), I have been trying ever since to get it as I was eligible, but as there is no means of actually speaking to anyone at DWP it is proving impossible.
I'm not sure I want to waste any more time on it, but as a principle - I want to make sure I receive everything that I'm entitled to, so I would at least like the second payment.
