This bbc article reads like chatgpt had a funny turn. Or is it me having a funny turn?

I can't find the link now so I think it's been taken down. But why would it be written like this?

Looks like a Nigerian pidgin to me.

Why would you think Chat GPT? This is nothing like AI word salad, it looks more like someone used speech to text and forgot to change it into Standard English.

Also there is no URL at the top of this screenshot and nothing to indicate this came from the BBC.
