London after Christmas

My DCs dont break up from school until Friday 😢
I'd love to take them to London for the day to see the shop windows, lights, ice rinks etc.
Do you think its worth going to London after Christmas, maybe one 27th? They're young teens & are happy to walk & explore etc.

There will be lots to do in London all over Christmas and the New Year. Go for it and have fun.

Mine break up on Wednesday which feels late enough. They're exhausted already. Friday is ridiculous. I think I'd be inclined to drop the last day or 2. Someone seriously lacked common sense with that term schedule.

Yes, best time to visit imo

It's a lovely time of year to visit. Much quieter than usual and still very Christmassy.

Loads to do if you don’t mind large crowds

The 27th is the third day of Christmas. You're only up to 3 French hens at that point. Plenty to do. Most public and commercial events are on for at least the full 12 days.

Somerset House ice skating for instance runs till the 14th of Jan.

We went to London for 2 nights last year 27th and 28th, I was expecting it to be crazy but it was 'quiet' (for London standard) everywhere it was amazing! It did get progressively busier so I would say 27th was the best of them.

Thanks everyone, we're making plans to visit on the 27th 😀
The dates are crazy for this term, they're so late breaking up & then not back until the 8th Jan!!

That's a great timed holiday! I'd like that. Ours broke up on Friday and are back on 2nd. So it's a full week to fill before Christmas starts and back to school still during the 12 days.

Christmas holiday actually covering the Christmas period would be a lovely novelty.
