Online Grocery Shop - Weirdest Substitutions

Right, who has got my M&S Passion Fruit Swiss Roll, and is missing their pack of fresh Rigatoni pasta?

Despite the order confirmation stating there were no items missing or substitutions!

Obviously a mix up in the fridge department.
I hope whoever is missing their pasta is not relying on it for a meal this evening!

What has been your strangest substitution, and best?!

I know this type of thread has been done to death, but I ordered frozen, duck spring rolls and received a fresh, Indian type gourd!

I’m sad about our missing Swiss roll, DC and I were going have it whilst watching the strictly final, it was meticulously planned 😂

Last week I tried to order rabbit food with my grocery shop. Rabbit food was unavailable. Suggested items included 2 different rampant rabbits!! Not really the same thing 🤣🤣🤣

I ordered 6 bottles of a certain non alcoholic drink I received 6 bottles of champagne, best substitute ever 🤣

DD has got 2 coeliac's and ordered gluten free pancakes.

She was substituted light bulbs.

She was so pissed off that she rang customer services and asked if the lightbulbs were gluten free for them to eat.

Ordered honey scent herbal essence shampoo and conditioner got 2 tubs of honey instead

Not massively weird, but I ordered a vegetarian ready meal which was substituted with a ham hock bake. That went back. My mother always orders duck, which is regularly subbed with beef for some reason.

A few months ago, I put my mother's online order in as usual. Popped round later that day and she said "oh, the bairns pringles are there" (she often pops a treat on her order for my DD) then she went "er... your tena lady pants are there too" I hadn't ordered any tena lady pants.

Another time, the driver plonked a crate at my door and went back for the others. The crate was full of 'family shop' stuff that wasn't mine - a huge box of washing powder, big bottles of juice and some wine etc. All the really heavy stuff. When he came back I told him it wasn't mine. He said it must be, as it was with all my other stuff. I explained it really wasn't and I didn't want to take it as it obviously belonged to someone else. He huffed and puffed at me about how heavy it was like it was my fault.

I ordered olive oil Ear drops for ear wax removal
I received Eye drops for contact lenses

I received Nappies instead of sanitary towels

I ordered super plus tampons and they send me regular instead - not really going to cut it.

My favourite subs was ordering maris piper potatoes and getting......nothing in subs. Not Christmas, basically no potatoes of any kind in the warehouse?>

Is that perhaps because dudhi is close to duck alphabetically? Was it a dudhi??

One Christmas, I'd ordered a kilo of sprouts.

As he finished delivering my order, the driver handed me a small plastic bag containing about four or six sprouts.

He explained that they had problems with their sprout supplies, so they had divided what sprouts they had equally between everyone who had ordered sprouts.

So we all got just a handful of sprouts, he seemed to think that this was a really good solution!

Custard in place of custard cream biscuits.

@unvillage -No, not a dudhi (thanks google!) Darker in colour and I equally had to google at the time to work out what it was. I can't recall the name, as it was my 1st ever online order, and nearly 10yrs ago now.

Not a replacement but our christmas order a couple of years ago had 1 lonely brussel sprout - with a bar code label stuck to it !

Ordered 4 carrots (definitely changed to quantity not weight) - delivered 4 kilos.
Ordered 4 dry Cava got sent 4 (super sweet) Asti Spumante
Ordered fresh prawns - sent a notebook with a picture of a prawn on the front

Allspice instead of mixed spice. One huge tomato instead of a pack of vine tomatoes. Another time two packs of small tomatoes instead of one pack of large vine tomatoes when I had also ordered a pack of small tomatoes. One expensive bottle of whisky instead of a cheap litre bottle of whisky.

Newborn nappies instead of size 6 pull ups. My 4yo was most unimpressed at bedtime.

I've turned subs off now

I had to stop ordering vegetarian versions of things (like Tesco vegetarian sushi) because they'd always sub the meat/fish version.

Once received a bag entirely full of kiddie ice cream. I hope it wasn't for a party!

I ordered toilet rolls and got a large bottle of Coke.

I ordered cat food and instead of a different brand of cat food they sent the same brand of dog food

the driver was mortified and was at great pains to point out they don’t do the picking

2 large packs of smoked salmon .... who'd want those when instead they can have a dozen raw sea bream complete with heads and tails?

at least itnwas a kind of fish but itbwasbt what i had in mind fir my Christmas eve canapés 😂
