KYC verification on Vinted

I sell my family's preloved things on Vinted and have done for about 2 years.

Today I've had a message saying I can't sell on the site until I've passed KYC verification. I have to prove my identity either by submitting a photo of my passport or driving licence.

I would get refused a driving licence on medical grounds so there's no point applying, but I don't have a passport either. Vinted have said they can't make ANY exceptions.

I've never heard of this KYC verification before. Has anyone else been in the same situation?

Anyone, please?

No, I havent been asked. Is there not a longer list of acceptable IDs? The authorities will usually accept more than those two for KYC but maybe Vinted just tried to keep it simple. Do you have any form of photo ID? Contact their customer service and ask what else they could accept.

I don’t remember doing this but ID checks are tightening up everywhere. Have you put the question to the Vinted forum? You can’t be the only one facing this.

No other ID accepted. Surely they can't legally withhold money people have earned on there? I don't have any other form of photo ID. I did contact their customer disservice and they were no help whatsoever (as outlined in the OP).

Thos happened to a friend of mine who had sold A LOT of stuff, so presumably there's a £ threshold that you've hit.

Sorry no advice on what you can do - I find their customer service team generally very unhelpful
