Who are your favourite and least favourite TV detectives?

I love Father Brown though I have to admit that he can be rather annoying at times. I also love Shakespeare and Hathaway and Poirot and really enjoyed Luther.

I’ve just started watching Vera and I can’t quite decide which category she’s going to fall into. I like the show so far but is she always so shouty and irritable?

Who are your favourite detectives?

Favourites: columbo, robin ellacott, Patrick Jane from the mentalist (but much plagiarized from columbo)

Worst: Bergerac, Kenneth branner as poirot

Joan Hickson’s Miss Marple.
Derek Jacobi as Cadfael.
Peter Davison as Campion.

David Suchet Poirot capture what I imagined when I read the books.

Cagney and Lacey

Jimmy Perez (Shetland).

Miss marple and Jessica fletcher for sure (although neither are actually detectives 🤣)

I never warmed to that ratty faced guy off Midsomer Murders (is it John something?) supercilious twat!

Oh, and I love Sarah Lancashire in happy valley

Loved Peter ustinov as Poirot but David Suchet was fantastic too

Always enjoyed David Jason as the gruff Frost

Laure Berthaud and Gilou from Spiral are my favourite pair

Suchet was born to play Poirot.

Love Sarah L. in Happy Valley.

Never been quite satisfied with any Marple.

Love the Rockford Files.

Disappointed to see Ironside doesn't get a mention!

Nathaniel Parker as DI Lynley and Sharon Small as his co-star.

Both superb in their roles. Wonder whatever became of Parker.

Diana Rigg was great as Mrs Bradley.

Oh, love him, too!

I liked Cagney and Lacey back in the day. Taggart is my favourite. He's such a misery. Can't stand Lewis. His voice drives me mad.

Least Favourites: Frost, Rebus, Sister Boniface.

Watched a Tasmanian cop/murder series recently that was great and one of the Detectives was delightfully batshit! So good - Deadloch, if anyone's seen it?

Rebus (Ken Stott, not John Hannah)

Stott was a better casting than Hannah, (nothing wrong with him as an actor, just entirely wrong as Rebus) but he still wasn't right. They needed someone like Mark McManus.

I like Vera.

Favourite is Cassie Stewart in Unforgotten.

Love a lot of the ones mentioned above.

Don't have any particular ones I don't like as I wouldn't stick with them if I didn't like them IYSWIM
