Apparently my window us between standard lengths, so I have the longer length and need to make the bit at the top for the rod to go through. I'm a bit clueless and have no sewing machine. What's the best way forward that doesn't involve sellotape and a stapler 😆

How long too long is it?

if it's just an inch or so you can just fold the top over and close with a running stitch.

If you don't have a sewing machine and don't want to sew by hand, there are glues you can use on fabric. May not hold as well, but it's worth a go I guess.

Just fold over the top by the amount you want it shorter and do a simple stitch all the way along. You won't see it when it's on the rod if it's at the back. How much do you need to shorten by? If its a lot you might need to cut it. If you do cut it leave plenty of room for the rod to slide easily into the folded down bit. Hope that makes sense.

Cut it to the length you need plus twice what you need to go over the rod plus a cm.

Fold over the 1 cm, iron it. Fold over the width of the rod plus a bit, iron it. Stick together the folded 1cm, let it set. Then stick this to the main bit of the curtain, let it set and put the rod through the resulting gap.

Err, I currently have a net at one of my landing windows which is stapled. Can you tell? No.

(and I have a sewing machine)

My intention was to staple it then hand stitch a running stitch through it but tried it for size with the staples and thought "well you can't even tell" so left it like that.

@DatingDinosaur Well in that case.....I might follow your lead!

@Bemyclementine just take it to your local dry cleaner and pay a few pounds for them to do it. Most have an alteration service in my experience.
