Colposcopy Sunday

Long awaited colposcopy after abnormal smear (15 weeks!)

I'm nervous about the likelihood I will have treatment and if I will be able to go to work for just not feel like it!

I'm a teacher and it's pretty much organised chaos this last week. It's lovely but I'm just not sure I can cope. With physically or emotionally!

So how did you feel after your colposcopy.

Also I swim a lot and not sure how any treatment will affect that? Can I swim after a biopsy?

I went with a friend, she was definitely told no baths or swimming for a few days. She took a day off but had some pain after (unusual). Best of luck

@Zanatdy did she have treatment or biopsy or just the colposcopy?

I had one a few years ago. Was like a smear test really. Take plenty oh heavy duty pads with you as I bled afterwards. Had a few days off work too. It was ok though although can think of better things to do !

I've had a colposcopy followed by a lletz. I had period type dull pains after the colposcopy but nothing major. I felt a bit more sore after the lletz, especially after the local wore off in the evening - I took the afternoon off but was back at work the next day. Wore a pad as bled a little and kept up on ibuprofen for a couple of days

I’ve had loop biopsy and colposcopy appointments for 10 years. I took a couple of days off after the loop biopsy, more so the stress and anxiety in the lead up just left me exhausted afterwards. I used to take the day off for my other colposcopy appointments, it just made me feel rubbish mentally. Physically it’s like others have said, some discomfort and bleeding but not very bad.

I've had a few colposcopies but didn't need treatment after them. I felt fine during and after. It is like a more detailed smear test. I find them only slightly uncomfortable, not painful.

I had a colposcopy and biopsy and was neither up nor down afterwards.

If pressed, I could have worked although preferred to take the rest of the day as I'd been quite stressed about it.

I had the colposcopy and two biopsies. I wouldn't have been able to teach that day- bleeding and just the experience wiped me out a bit. Always find smear tests completely fine. The following day might be a bit borderline too.

I have great news!

It was all clear and no biopsy or further treatment needed. Just 'HPV changes'
Called back in 1 year for a smear.

I'm so relieved.

Sorry for all those whose journey has been more difficult Flowers
