Leaving speeches

I'm leaving my job soon and want to do a good leaving speech, but I'm not very good at this sort of thing. Once I have a plan, I'll be pretty good at writing it and saying it, I'm just not as good at the initial ideas. I'd like to know about the best leaving speeches you've sat through and what was good about them, please.

‘Thanks for having me’

No one wants to sit through a ‘leaving speech’, no matter how cherished a colleague you’ve been. Just say ‘It’s been a good x years! Bye!’

Should probably add a bit more detail. It's expected that I'll do a speech and I don’t plan on it being long. I've worked at this place for over a decade so want to do it justice.

I know what you mean and, to be honest, that would be my preference, but it really is the expectation that I put something 'proper' together or I'll seem rude! Short, sweet but a bit of entertainment!

’I’ve worked here for over ten years and very much enjoyed it. It’s time now, to move to the next challenge and phase. I wish you all continued success in the future.’

There just be a couple of funny stories you can retell.
