Help - I need soft drink inspiration

The older I get the less I get on with alcohol, and definitely not drinking all evening on a night out level of acohol.

but things I used to love - like ginger beer and Diet Coke - no longer agree with me.

I love Lipton’s tea, but you don’t get it much in pubs and hotels!

Please hit me with your recommendations.

Elderflower presse is my go to! Fentimans rose lemonade is also lovely

BrandyandGinger · 15/12/2023 14:47

If I'm out I sometimes have sparkling water mixed with orange juice. If I'm at home I like nice elderflower tonic with lots of ice but no gin. I actually barely drink alcohol, my username is probably misleading.

Pinchaperfect · 15/12/2023 14:50

fever tree clementine.
corona light beer 0.0
Nosseco.
Hotel chocolate.
Limonata.
I also love alot of the bottle green cordials.

I'm not a big fan of soft drinks but if it's just one in a pub then I quite like a J20 in a pint glass with lots of ice and topped up with soda water. I like lime and soda but the cordial gives me eczema!

itsreal · 15/12/2023 15:07

Recommend a non alcoholic spirit eg Everleaf for a non alcoholic g&t in disguise! Nice & refreshing & no hangovers...what's not to like?!

Whataretheodds · 15/12/2023 15:09

Bottle green cordials
Ginger ale
Ginger beer
Tonic water
Martini vibrante
Nosecco
Kombucha
Lots of sparkling tea-based drinks are nice (M&S do one)
Sparkling water with fresh lime and ice

madamepresident · 15/12/2023 15:10

Lime and soda
Blackcurrant and soda

SpecialSpaghetti · 15/12/2023 15:12

San Pellegrino - all flavours but lemon and mint is especially 👌

Bibbetybobbity · 15/12/2023 15:12

I can’t recommend Dalston’s enough, although I’m not sure they serve in pubs. One for at home though, it’s totally stopped my ‘at home’ drinking. Sparkling water and a dash of fruit juice, not overly sweet (in fact no sugar or sweeteners). My favourite is cherry, pineapple a close second.

BeansOnToast32 · 15/12/2023 15:27

Elderflower Cordial with a generous splash of cloudy apple juice topped up with soda water, needs ice and a couple of fresh mint leaves, you can also add a slice or two of cucumber if you are feeling fancy.

It's my favourite drink, I don't really drink alcohol bar a glass or two at Christmas. I've never been fussed about alcohol but I absolutely love the apple/elderflower drink.

Oldraver · 15/12/2023 15:31

In pubs I have Cawston Press Rhubarb, Fentimans old fashioned lemonade or the rose one

At home I will drink the above but diluted with sparkling water

I've just found a sugar free cans of lemon in Aldi and their 0 % is a nice no sweet alternative

Thank you all x

Plain old lime and soda is best if you want to avoid the furry teeth feeling

ChilledToTheBone · 15/12/2023 19:27

Pineapple and lemonade

Daisies12 · 15/12/2023 19:43

I like the alcohol free gins with tonic. the Gordon’s one is nice!

ThreeRingCircus · 15/12/2023 19:46

If I'm out I have a pint of lime and soda, or a pint of orange juice and lemonade. Sometimes an elderflower tonic with lots of ice but no gin and that's also nice.

At home I really like the Schloer zero cans. They do a white grape or a red grape one and I often have that in a champagne flute as it feels a bit more special.

PincNeon · 15/12/2023 19:52

I can’t get enough of flavoured soda right now. The little mixer can by the likes of Fevertree and London Essence Co. The pink grapefruit is amazing. Between a flavoured water and a lemonade, low in calories and no sweeteners.

Weallnamechangesometimes · 15/12/2023 19:54

Bottle green cordial with either sparkling or still water. I like their elderflower (with still) and ginger (with sparkling) ones. Just picked up winter spice to try but haven't yet.

fevertree do a nice Mexican lime soda

flavoured water

guiness zero is lovely

FatMumSlimDad · 15/12/2023 19:55

Schweppes Russchian is one of my favourites.

PandaG · 15/12/2023 20:00

Agree with elderflower presse, or lime and soda. Not too sweet.

If I'm having a curry or similar and driving a pint of punk dog (brew dog's very low alcohol beer .5% I think goes down really well.

I do enjoy a g and t, and some of the zero alcohol gins are nice, though I'm just as likely to drink a tonic on its own with plenty of ice.
