A pre-festivities sharpener of Mornington Crescent?

Unfortunately I was absent for the thrilling climax to the game yesterday, and offer belated congratulations to LlynTegid. It's not often you see that move deployed with such laser-like accuracy.
A last hurrah before we all disperse for our traditional mid-winter break? (I'm for the Canaries this year with the curate and his new-ish special friend, a dear young man).
I'll start us off with a good invigorating Hudson's Cast: Goodge Street.

Interesting place to start and one could be easily fooled by it.

I shall go south and west to East Acton.

MarkWithaC · 16/12/2023 09:13

Indeed, Llyn.
An Arpington to Brixton.
Has everyone else left already for the slopes or the country retreat?

Ah there you are!

I've been assisting the Archbish with his nativity. He was fossicking about looking for the three wise men and was quite surprised to find them in one of the third floor bedrooms. I wasn't, I'd seen them looking each other up and down. I just wish the dear old thing hadn't had such a shock. He's really very innocent in some ways. Well, he was...

I did say it was a living nativity didn't I?

A restorative sherry may be in order.

Ahem.

A breezy Oxford Circus to get the day moving.

LlynTegid · 16/12/2023 10:54

I would not be someone to advise on nativity plays, even with a lifelong friend who has taken holy orders and is of a small urban parish.

A breezy move and clever one as a move east is called for, to the quietness of Roding Valley.

TragicMuse · 16/12/2023 11:02

Ah, @LlynTegid, it's not a play, more a tableau vivant...they'll be here for DAYS. The best performers are booked years in advance and command high fees, accommodation and all the perks. The Archbish in his waning years has opted for a more cost effective solution. It involves the parishioners and a number of orderlies from his short stay at The Priory this summer. Apparently I haven't seen the best yet but nothing in my life has prepared for Mrs Arbuthnot's Mary. <shudder> SHE'S 76 and assuredly does not have the fresh virginal complexion of Our Lady. Husband number 5 will attest to that...

Hounslow

MarkWithaC · 16/12/2023 11:47

The Contessa flirted with the idea of a tableau vivant nativity once, I seem to remember, but decided to present it in the Piedmont lodge. Someone unfortunately left the door open and, we’ll, all I’ll say is that truffle dogs will not be distracted from what they believe is their duty.
She simply orders a little diorama from Fortnum’s these days.

Delighted to have found you. I imagine the game of games is rarely combined with a traditional Nativity play. One can imagine the Colonel taking to the role of Herod all too enthusiastically.

Elephant and Castle

LlynTegid · 16/12/2023 19:56

Use of the South Western Railway rule so early on, otherwise Hounslow would have been an invalid move. Clever one that.

I agree about the enthusiasm of the Colonel, hence why his version of a certain play by the Bard about a Scottish king had to be cancelled in 1974 to avoid bloodshed.

Lambeth North.

TragicMuse · 17/12/2023 11:38

Yes, his dedication to The Method has long been a source of admiration and fear.

Elstree and Borehamwood

MarkWithaC · 18/12/2023 09:16

He was a revelation in that short Noël Coward season at the Windmill though.

Liverpool Street, using a Squirrel’s Turn.

Youngersis1 · 18/12/2023 09:36

New joiner here. Bit shy.

Hayes and Harlington

Youngersis1 · 18/12/2023 16:10

Have I ruined everything?
I was right to be shy!
I’m never coming back ::sobs::

DuckonaBike · 18/12/2023 17:17

Not at all YoungerSis! The game often moves at an erratic pace, owing to the inconvenient demands of real life.

Let me reassure you with an Extended Wordle’s Leap to Plaistow

MarkWithaC · 18/12/2023 17:22

Indeed, Duck. How are the siblings? I was a little concerned about the word filtering back from the usual winter retreat in the Canaries. But one always imagines these things were not really as heated in real life as they become on the grapevine.

No, Younger, not at all. Welcome! And apologies; I've been a bit distracted; I had the curate on the phone, distraught about his Waitrose delivery and next door. Honestly, he was just looking for something to complain about; their neighbourly relationship has not been the same since Bonfire Night and the unfortunate incident with the toffee.

Any road up.

Golders Green (cyclical).

Edgware, for the first time in this game, without the aid of the Northern Heights rule.

MarkWithaC · 18/12/2023 17:47

Cunning, Llyn!
A Partlington's Cross to Tower Hill.

Youngersis1 · 18/12/2023 18:07

Phew. Well in that case I’m coming right back with a rather sassy Colliers Wood

10yDrama · 18/12/2023 19:06

I see exactly what you're trying to do @Youngersis1

Very shrewd and hopefully I'm correct in thinking that we can avoid the carnage that sort of play often leads to if I get in quick with Oxford Circus

TragicMuse · 18/12/2023 21:37

Nice to meet you @Youngersis1 don't worry, the pace of play can be variable!

Kennington Oval

TragicMuse · 18/12/2023 21:41

No, not Kennington Oval.

Just* Oval*

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 19/12/2023 01:00

Ah, here you are. Do excuse my absence since the thrilling denouement of the last round. I’ve been somewhat distracted by, ahem, world events but it’s reassuring to see the game of game continues and has attracted some new players to boot.

Anyway, let’s crack on:

Hanger Lane

GaudeteGaudete · 19/12/2023 02:03

Yuletide greetings, all.

Bond Street.

MarkWithaC · 19/12/2023 08:55

Welcome back, Maud!

Seeing as that Oval move has opened up the possibility of a Bisect, I'm going to Goldhawk Road.

OP posts:
TragicMuse · 19/12/2023 09:50

Lovely to see you again Maud. I hope the world events aren't those I recently read about involving a Jeroboam of champagne and ill-advised use of the Contessa's What-Not?...

I needed to go to Goldhawk Road - it's a fine street for stuffs and my organdie dress needs to be replaced.

Happily I have what I need and now can scoot over to Piccadilly Circus. Just popping in to Liberty.

VixenMortar · 19/12/2023 10:10

Gud Yule one and all!

Apologies for my extended absence; this year has been make or break in widget lubricants and Mr Mortar and I are shadows of our 1886 Suffolk Championship selves.

Wonderful to hear of the Nativity and to see old and new members back together for an Advent Game!

With that a triple Euler to:

Royal Oak
