Extremely dull stamp question..

Very boring, sorry! I'm sending a Christmas card. It's in a large envelope. 24cm x 24 cm. It's too wide (but an OK height) for 1 stamp. But also too wide for 2 stamps. I've put some photos in and it weighs 83g. Can I stick 2 first class stamps on it?

disclaimer. I've already stuck one stamp on and can't peel it off. I didn't realise the size of the card, ironically it was ordered online!

second disclaimer, it cost me a FIVER for 4 stamps. A bloody fiver!

Many thanks 😊

What do you mean, too wide for 2 stamps? "Large letter" is 35cm x 25cm max. Weight up to 100g is £1.95 (1st class) or £1.55 (2nd class). I looked it up today as I have a similar dilemma - I'm going to put two stamps on and hope for the best.

It's quite a good money making wheeze for the Royal Mail - people with books of first or second class stamps will use multiples of those stamps to cover the cost, and end up paying more than the actual charge for that size/weight of letter.

My mistake. It's too wide for a ' large letter'

Yup. Its definitely a money spinner for them. I'll stick 2x 1st class on and hope for the best. Hope yours gets sent too!

You can of course put on multiple stamps, but are then overpaying the excess by doubling the cost as you go

Either print the label generated or use the QR code when dropping off at a Post Office for them to print your ‘stamp’

When printing labels you can drop into a post box if you don’t have a convenient post office. (Without getting proof of postage of course)
