December birthdays unite

I'm a December birthday and I'm the first to admit we get the raw end of the deal.
This year I wanted a birthday cookie from Morrisons, it's huge and thought it would be fun to share with my family. Apparently you can't order and collect them Christmas week. Add that to you can't go out and eat a normal meal ( all Christmas meal menus) and the lack of birthday cards.
Anyone else want a winge?

DS turned 4 this week and I've already got very cross at several people who thought it didn't matter that his presents were wrapped in Christmas paper. He manly only be young but I'm starting out as I mean to go on and of course it matters.

why don't you just identify as having your birthday any other month of the year? summer birthdays are great.

Yes exactly the same here. Mine is New Years Eve I even received joint Christmas and birthday presents as a child
I don't celebrate now( I'm 58)

Unite!

My birthday is on Saturday (I'm not that bothered. I'll be 53!).

But there's no point going out for a family meal. It's all Christmas menus and work Christmas parties and not at all enjoyable. We now have a tradition of "saving it up" and we go out as a family in January to brighten up the post-Christmas blues.

My parents were always really good about keeping my birthday and Christmas seperately, with the tree not going up until the 17th. We're doing ours on the 16th this year as our grown up dc are free to help and it's more fun with them too!

I will have a moan about the lack of birthday wrapping papper and then when you find it its not a nice standard like normally is

DH Bday- 12th
Wedding anniversary- 17th
DS Bday- 21st
My Bday- 23rd

Very hectic time of the year for us lol

Yes, I hate the meal out thing too! Other than that it's never really bothered me that my birthday is so close to Christmas. I'm lucky enough to still get cards, decent presents etc.
I once spent my birthday in Australia which was great because it was actually warm!

27th December for me. Its rubbish :(

23treefrogs · 14/12/2023 20:34

We all have December birthdays in our house. All within days of the first and last. It is rubbish and just completely overwhelming.

We've not figured out a work around yet and probably won't. Although I have not found time for decorating or a lot of the traditions yet....so perhaps that's the key. No decorations or Christmas stuff until right before Christmas day?

Ditto!
You're on my naughty list if I get any presents wrapped in Xmas paper! ( wouldn't do it if my bday was in the summer) I like a fuss as I fuss over anyone else's bday in the year - it's always slightly a downer though 😆

My birthday is the middle of next week, and I don't actually mind it being near Christmas. It makes me feel a bit special, and I bloody love a Yule Log for a birthday cake. But my family are pretty good and I don't think I have had many joint presents or Christmas wrapping.

However, its only in the last 4 or 5 years that I have gone out for a meal. I now book a little pub or hotel by the sea for a night to celebrate.

A man I worked with had a child with a Christmas Day birthday. They did xmas in the morning and took down tree after lunch and did birthday then. The child got to choose a special day out in June for her half birthday
