If someone "forgot" to pay for 3 weeks. Would you cancel the client?

They have no money worries.
They know I do.
Previously excellent client.

Yes, I'm a tutor and my terms and conditions state that payment is due 24 hours in advance. Some pay monthly and I'm going to encourage this more strongly in the new year.

Most of my families are very good but there are a couple that often need a prompt - just forgetful / disorganised but it does get annoying. I email a polite reminder and chase as needed. I definitely don't teach the lesson if I haven't been paid.

Twinkl private tutors Facebook group is helpful for example ts and cs and moral support!

I used to always send invoices once sessions done, after two years of hassle chasing I now charge upfront to guarantee my time in the diary. It has worked so much better.

You're welcome. Before I was doing a month of sessions, sending an invoice and continuing sessions for next month... They would miss payment deadline and by time they paid the next invoice was out which confused them!

Now I just say it's to guarantee my time in the diary. No payments, no sessions! Simple as.

Good luck!

Update:

I have had an apology and will be paid tomorrow.

I am putting everything you all said into practise in the NY.

Really, much thanks all.

How has it been going? I have a student booked in for sessions over the next six weeks, but no payment received, days overdue. Reminders sent, invoice system confirmed invoices read. Next session tomorrow morning. So as per T's and C's it won't be going ahead. Totally wasting my time and can't book anything else in last minute. It's so frustrating, I totally get it.
