Electoral roll question!

question200 · 13/12/2023 12:54

Can one person be registered on the electoral register under two different names at the same time, eg. Steve Smith/Steven Smith? Is this allowed or a bit dodgy?

No you can only have one entry. Its a record of who resides at the property and is entitled to vote. I'd imagine registering yourself more than once would be some kind of offence as it would allow you more than one vote

Thank you, this is what I had though. Does this also mean that each person can only be registered at one address at a time?

Sorry one more question.. does anyone know what the benefit of registering yourself under different names/at multiple addresses would be? In this instance, I believe the person involved owes lots of debt and is renting out properties under the radar. Would this add up?

There are occasions where you might be registered at more than one address for a short period of time e.g. when you move house.

However it would be an offence to vote more than once in an election.

A person attempting to commit fraud might do this.

Thank you. I 100% think they are involved in fraud.

They have also registered their teenage daughter as the sole person from their family living at their family home but none of the family is currently living there, it's a been a steady stream of different people for a couple of years.

Do you know who I should report all this too?
