Energy refund

In credit by £1015.00 with Octopus Energy, 1st world problem I know. As it’s the most expensive time of the year I thought I get a refund of £500.

No can do says online Octopus you need to do a meter reading (only did 1 two weeks ago) to apply for your refund. Just submitted my reading and clicked apply for refund only to be told my balance of £952 is below the online refund and I have to apply via email.

Bloody ridiculous, any excuse. Can’t help but think this will be a long drawn out refund .

In my experience Octopus have been pretty good about refunds.

We are going into the heaviest months energy wise and they need to be sure that, along with your monthly direct debit, you have sufficient funds going forward. Depending what your monthly usage is likely to be (based on winter last year) you should be able to get some of your money back quite easily
