So we are having this bring and make thing in work and I've been nominated to bring something savory. Any ideas. N o facility to heat anything up. About 30 people. I was thinking cheese cubes and grapes on sticks or is that naff. Prob no pork . Quite a few vegetarians. Anyone ? Maybe just crisps or is that a cop out Blush

Should it be something home made or shop bought is ok?

BlockadeRunner · 13/12/2023 01:10

I am making this for nibbles when MIL and SIL arrive just before Christmas, looks nice and it is just things on sticks. Which is kind of what you wanted to do, could leave out the salami if lots of vegetarian's.

I make mini toad in the hole (you could use veggie sausages). I make them in silicon cupcake trays. Very hot oil, one mini sausage (pre cooked) add Yorkshire batter. Work very well cold.

Frittata cut into squares

NigelHarmansNewWife · 13/12/2023 08:37

Cheese and marmite pinwheels using ready made puff pastry

Also can use 2 sheets of ready made and rolled puff. Cut into squares and spread one sheet's worth with a pesto or tapenade and top with grated or crumbled cheese, put the other sheet of pastry on top and crimp with fork around the edges. Bake.

Home made sausage rolls and mushroom ones for the veggies. Buy the pastry. They taste amazing and are pretty quick and easy to make.

Five layer (seven layer) dip:

Spread refried beans on a big plate/dish. Then put lettuce, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, sliced olives on top. That's only six so I must've forgotten something. Get plain tortilla chips to dip in.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/12/2023 08:42

I really want cheese and pineapple on sticks now.

I think a big batch of veggie sausage rolls is a good idea.

Cheese scones?

That wreath of things on sticks looks brilliant.

LIZS · 13/12/2023 09:04

Mini quiches? Shop bought pastry cut into circles in a muffin tin then filled with mix of egg, milk and whatever veg and or cheese and baked.
Dips and veg/crackers/crisp
Homemade cheese straws

Torganer · 13/12/2023 09:18

Samosas, cheese and onion rolls, quiche, Christmas tree pesto bread, focaccia with olives, tomatoes, and artichokes, filled baguettes and slice when you get to work, savoury muffins.

Sparklyhat · 13/12/2023 09:20

I would do something either shop bought puff pastry. Pizza pinwheels (cheese, tomato puree, dried herbs)
Or cheese straws/twists

Cucumber Crocodile

Geneticsbunny · 13/12/2023 13:23

Yes. They are still brilliant could.

Geneticsbunny · 13/12/2023 13:25

Yes. They are lovely cold. The meat ones I just deconstruct some sausages and then add some generous spoonfuls of apple sauce and some cooked onions.

Cheese and marmite flapjacks

CurlewKate · 13/12/2023 13:34

Cheese straws. Super simple and tend to canid in seconds. Make sure the cheese is vegetarian.
