Could this be quinsy? (Warning images of tonsils)

Hi,

Apologies in advance for my tonsil photos please feel free to click off thread🤦🏻‍♀️

just after some advice. I had terrible cough last week, on Friday I developed an awful headache on one side and earache. Headache and earache continued over weekend, only on one side. Monday morning I woke to a swollen painful tonsil on one side. Go couldn’t see me so went to pharmacy and tested positive for strep A. He couldn’t check ear there as they don’t do it. I was prescribed antibiotics for 5 days.

im on day 2 of antibiotics and feel it is much worse, tonsil now has white patches on it and look like the other one is infected. I’m still getting earache and pain on side of head. I’ve had chills and aches over past two days and my tongue feels sore and swollen.

I have spoke to GP today but he hasn’t checked me over and said I need to give antibiotics time.

just wondering if I need to be concerned it’s getting worse or shall I just see how it goes until I finish the antibiotics? I can swallow but is very painful and generally feel rough!

Thanks in advance.

This does just look like severe tonsillitis to me but I'm not a doctor. I do frequently get tonsillitis though.

Symptoms of quinsy include pus filled lump, not being able to open your mouth properly and having a 'hollow' sounding voice. Note I'm not a medic but DC had quinsy. GP doesn't mind being contacted if you are worried about it in my experience.

When I had quinsy, the affected tonsil was so swollen that the uvula (the dangly bit in the middle) was pushed to one side. My voice was badly affected, I had toothache and earache at that side and a lot of difficulty swallowing. The pain was awful.
The photos look like bad tonsillitis, but I'm not a doctor - call 111 if you are at all concerned, if you think it's quinsy push them for an out of hours appointment tonight, it can be quite dangerous untreated.
