It’s here on Amazon but only in paperback.

Thankyou everyone, I didn’t even think of Amazon! But that is far to expensive, how strange that it is that much money!
no I don’t know anyone in Portugal, that would be useful right now 😃

Don't know how you get it to the UK, but

I wonder if you can use a parcel forwarder?? I'm not aware if one that has a Portugese address hub - but I've never looked for one.

Have you talked to a bookseller? The Big Green Bookshop on Twitter seems brilliant, they have a website too. You could message and see if they can get hold of one for you.

AngryPrincess · 11/12/2023 23:05

Would reading it on a Kobo or Kindle be any good?

Fnac is like the Waterstones of Portugal, but no dice… Any chance you could combine a holiday and book shopping trip? I speak Portuguese and have only ever bought books in the country due to the massive hassle needed to get your hands on something you actually want to read at a price that won’t leave you bankrupt.

I wonder if another option is to ask somewhere like Foyle’s, which has a big language department. They might be able to order for you. They do have the Shining in btw - in Albanian!

ebay might work for a popular novel like this too.

Please update if you find a decent way to get it to the UK.

Could you get it on Kindle or an ebook reader but in Portuguese??? Might work out cheaper x unless you prefer the actual feel of a book 😏🤔

Hastae · 11/12/2023 23:33

The Brazilian version is called O Iluminado if that helps - not that you can get that for under £50 either (on UK Amazon or eBay anyway), but at least it’s a bit cheaper!

Not available to buy as an ebook in this country from what I can see. It’s on Amazon.com.br, but you need a national insurance number to purchase.
