Just had 2 small glasses of wine and fell out with DH over nothing.

I have never been a drinker but lately after initial buzz wears off, it turns me miserable and into an arse. Probably a peri, or may be I am an arse.

If anyone has quit drinking fully, have you found it has beneficial to how you feel, your moods, relationships, judgement?

I just can’t believe how intense it made me feel all the nasty things I didn’t mean.

How often do you drink and how much?

It's quite simple - if you relationship and moods are fine when you don't drink but disrupted when you do, stopping drinking will stop the disruption.

It's a depressant, i gave up at 50 and feel infinitely calmer and relaxed. It's worth quitting as you feel so much better. And fitter and thinner. Plus sleep is wonderful.

I haven't had a drink for nearly a year. Its unthinkable that I'd ever embrace booze as the treat that I used to.

I drink twice a week usually over weekends, one large glass if wine per night, sometimes a spritzer, sometimes G&T but increasingly find that it ruins my night.

Two small glasses tonight and I feel like shit, physically and mentally and grumpy DH.

I turned from a happy, sociable drinker to a miserable, critical drinker in my forties. I also developed horrendous anxiety hangovers after only a couple of drinks. I think it was age, hormones and stress.

Quit completely 4 years ago and have no regrets. My thinking was that if it wasn’t making me feel relaxed and happy and enhancing my social interactions, then what was the point?

I gave up drinking in September 2022 and feel so much better for it. I was a near daily drinker for the best part of 20years. Never thought I’d give it up (I loved wine) but it played havoc with my mental health when I started separating from STBXH so it had to go.

I still have drinks, but I realised that drinks have bad effects on me, unlike when I was younger, phyically. I'm thinking about quitting it, since drinking isn't enjoyable anymore.

I stopped drinking a few years ago now, it was giving me terrible migraines and I decided it wasnt worth ruining a whole weekend for. Its had no negative effects on me, I can honestly say I dont miss it.

I drink the odd glass of wine, pint, vodka. Never enough to get drunk. Haven’t been drunk in 24 years.

if your intolerant is that low maybe you should quit. Its not worth it. I dont really enjoy it. I find its more socially acceptable not to drink these days especially in women my age (49/50).
