Has anyone ever withdrawn cash and it not shown?

I withdrew £250 from the cash machine yesterday morning but it still isn't showing on my internet banking and isn't reflected in my available balance either.

I've used my debit card several times since and those transactions are showing under pending and the amounts taken into account in the available balance.

Usually a withdrawal shows straight away.

No point to my post really I'm just curious if it's ever happened to anyone else and did it eventually catch up?

Was it a standard cashpoint or one of those ones you find in smaller shops?

greenacrylicpaint · 10/12/2023 20:37

One in the wall at the petrol station, NatWest I think. Been there forever and I use it a couple of times a month.

Excuse my ignorance but what's a jackpotting heist?

It's a type of cyber crime where crooks get access to an ATM/cashpoint machine, often by posing as ATM technicians. They connect a laptop to it and transfer code so that when a certain sequence of keys are pressed the machine will spit out all (or a lot) of the notes, in a way like a fruit machine spits out coins or tokens when the player gets a 'jackpot' (e.g. 3 fruits the same). Either these crooks or accomplice 'mules' collect the money.

This has just happened to me!! Took some cash out two hours ago and it's still in my account. I have been googling like mad and this is the only thing on the entire internet I can find about such an occurrence.

TellerTuesday · 11/12/2023 15:02

Oh really @jemimastrawberryhorse how strange.

I am really baffled by it. I needed £300 in total but can only take £250 per day with my bank so I took the other £50 out this morning (although I used different cash machine) which showed on my internet banking straightaway.

Think I will put it down to a Christmas fairy.

Me too. I just hope it doesn't come out in a few weeks time or something when I've forgotten about it.
