Does anyone wake up each day feeling like a zombie?

How can I become more of a morning person?

I could sleep ALL day. I wake up exhausted. Everywhere hurts. I have no energy and have to hype myself up just to do basic tasks like the dishes, or hanging up the washing.

Days like today when we don't have plans are the worst but I've already had one nap this morning and will feel sleepy again around 4/5ish.

I wake up groggy, in a brain fog, can't really concentrate on anything and my eyes are just shutting.

Weekdays are easier because I have to get up and out but weekends are just a write off.

Any suggestions on how to sort my sleep out or get more energy? Coffee makes me feel sleepy and it feels like my brain just never switches off sometimes.

I am active when I do eventually get up and out but I just feel like crap all the time.

Magnesium

I’ve found a real difference taking vitamin B12 supplements.

ChristmasPuddy · 10/12/2023 12:34

Get to GP for blood test. Sounds like iron and B12 could be low!

Maybe low vitamin D levels. It's the darkest time of year at the moment so make sure you get out in the middle of the day for maximum daylight. If not there are supplements.

MrsMoastyToasty · 10/12/2023 12:58

Carbon monoxide poisoning.

Rocksonabeach · 10/12/2023 13:00

I did and now take vitamin D, multivitamin, magnesium, b12 anf have a light box and it’s gone - I’m on hrt and levothyroxine but those doses haven’t changed

PlumpAndGrump · 10/12/2023 13:36

Thank you all.
Definitely not carbon monoxide. 4 alarms dotted round the house installed recently.

I am going to look into the supplements particularly magnesium. How long until people felt a difference? And any particular one people recommend? Reading about it, it seems there are different types and some don't absorb as well.

I am just heading out to the shops and for a walk round the loch now but I know I will be exhausted later.

Yes but I have CFS

Esgaroth · 10/12/2023 15:00

Do you feel better in the summer or are you like this all year round? If I have to get up in the dark I feel shit all day but no problems once it gets lighter. I just grit my teeth and get through it because I know I'll feel better in the spring (tried the lamps and they don't help me).

If it's all year round I would go to the doctor. Could be a vitamin deficiency of some kind.

isthewashingdryyet · 10/12/2023 15:04

Full bloods plus ask for B12, folate and ferritin and Vitamin D to be measured too

you could be deficient in all or some, and fbc will flag iron deficiency anemia

this isnt normal or okay

Woolyjumperss · 10/12/2023 15:10

Do you snore ? This sounds like me before I got my sleep apnea diagnosed and started cpap.
It might not be that obviously as these symptoms can be caused by a lot of things from stress to vitamin deficiencies etc but worth a think about as Cpap has changed my life

Mountaindhew · 10/12/2023 15:15

This isnt normal but i think you know that. You need to take action but don't self supplement until you've had full bloods, including thyroid, done by the gp. If its an iron deficiency for example a multi vitamin isn't going to scratch the surface.
