Found a strange dice, where is it from?

This is just a light hearted conundrum for anyone bored. And into board games.

Dd found, in a random box of other toy-related debris, a single little red six-sided wooden dice (I mean, a die). But instead of the numbers 1-6, it has on each face 0, 0, 3, 3, 4, 7.

What game is this from?! I'm (lightheartedly) worried that I've got a game somewhere that requires this unique dice and they ought to be reunited.

It's not one of my dnd sets of d20, d10 etc. None of those are wood.

Googled it to no avail, I just got links to lots of maths websites for calculating probability odds

Here's a photo showing the 7 face and one of the 0 faces in case anyone recognises it!

Be careful, this is like the start of a horror film 😂

Haha yes I'm wondering if it's actually a dream as I've been getting odd pregnancy dreams! I really don't recognise this dice...!

Defininely dangerous. It determines the number of dimensions of the universe that you are sucked into if you roll it whilst intoning Jumanji, Jumanji, Jumanji.

Igmum · 10/12/2023 08:57

Damn that is ringing a bell and my mind is absolutely blank. Don't worry OP, I will remember over an hour into the film and tell you what it is just as the bad things inexorably break loose...

Dungeons and Dragons uses different dice.

Unescorted · 10/12/2023 09:05

It could come from a variant of Risk. The dice come in sets of 3 or more. It could be an old boardgame version but more likely (having just rolled the dice) to have come from the pocket of an intergalactic traveller. If they don't find it before their next turn the universes will swing off their axis. Best put it back exactly where you found it so the can triangulate it's location from the initial throw.

Dogsitterwoes · 10/12/2023 09:05

It's not a D&D one.

Saisong · 10/12/2023 09:11

Is it one of the variations that give a fairer distribution when rolled in pairs - not favouring rolls of 7?

PuttingDownRoots · 10/12/2023 09:14

Have you tried an image search on google

Jumanji. You're about to get a herd of elephants running through your house. Good luck op.

Possibly but what game would need such a thing? There's just one of them, at least that we've found.

I know it's not a dnd one, those have regular numbers and anyway none of my sets are wood

Haha I do love the Jumanji films. Well if any film makers are on here, they're welcome to the idea lol

Intergalactic traveller (or pregnancy dream) are the most likely options so far imo.

We don't have any sets of Risk but we do have lots of the classic strategy board games. I still can't think of any with this dice though. But this is the kind of suggestion I was hoping for thank you!!

Could it be from magic set? I can imagine a trick where you "move the spot".

Ooh this does sound plausible! But dh says he doesn't think we have any magic kits and I can't remember buying anything like that either.

If this helps, dd found it in her alphabet magnet box (which also had eg the odd hair bobble in - nothing is tidied properly in this house haha)
