Is it just Asda that does this?

I'm getting so fucking annoyed at Asda when I order for delivery or click and collect. We are a family of allergy sufferers so use their free from range a lot. I've noticed recently whenever I've tried to order something the app has defaulted to not available and doesn't offer alternatives, yet if I redo the search it flags up all the high end expensive versions of the products I'm looking for. Yet if I go into the store on the day I do my click and collect it's fully stocked of those items.

It feels to me like the online shopping policy is to limit choice and force you into buying more expensive items. Is this just an Asda policy or other supermarkets too?

Just about every supermarket ime has items that are available in store but aren't listed online.

They also stopped listing loose fruit and veg, forcing people to buy more than they need and wrapped in plastic. I stopped using them as they became so fucking useless during the pandemic, and never stopped. I'll always have to go in the shop to pick up stuff they've missed or subbed inappropriately. And it's not even free anymore! Fuck em.

Yes I noticed that about the fruit and veg too!

No tesco do this too.
Gluten free bread rolls are often an issue can't buy the £1.50 ones but can the multiple available at £2.75 +.
I notice it more with gf as I have less choice but also other areas to.
I have a dc with afrid and asd will only have a £1.15 chocolate spread but all I'm offered on the app is the expensive brands. I can check instore on the app while I'm doing it and it'll be there. I think this has been happening since covid but getting worse especially with stockwell brand.

Last time I used Asda the receipt showed 6 subs, 18 items unavailable and then they didn't even show up. I tweeted customer service and they were bloody useless too.

Well I use Morrisons and have the opposite problem. It's very rare I get everything I ordered (even though they said it was in stock).

Yes it's a nightmare for when you've got a child who will ONLY eat specific foods on top of allergies.

I boycot Asda as 5 years ago I was working up till lunchtime Christmas Eve 7 days a week and so I ordered an online shop. Ok it was snowy but I got the 5 miles to work and back ok. The cancelled the delivery after the shops had shut leaving us with no Christmas fare. When I called customer services they were in India and it was like they had never heard of Christmas, no empathy at all. Banned
