Help - vomiting child for 3 weeks

2 Fridays ago (the 24th) my 6 year old had D&V, his sister went down with it 48 hours later so I put it down to noro and didn’t think much else of it.

Last Saturday night (9th) he had sickness and diarrhoea again and vomiting on Sunday night (10th).

I called the GP on Monday who said if he was OK in himself not to worry too much and this can happen post stomach bug. He was OK all week but has just got up again to be sick 3 times alongside diarrhoea.

I am waiting for 111 to call back.

There isn’t anything he has changed in his eating pattern but I will start a diary.

I know so many kids who have multi-week vomiting and diarrhoea at the moment. I think there's a particularly nasty bug going around. I called the gp about it as well and they said sometimes even once the bug is out the system, the body is so upset by it that it just keeps going and as long as the child is okay in themselves and not dehydrated it's fine.

It is so stressful though!

Thank you @strangelytired that’s calmed me down a bit

Lucozade sport is good. Also yakult or actimel can help.

This happened to me, I had sickness and / or diarrhoea every weekend for 3 weeks. It was weird!

Just wanted to reply and say I had this with my daughter. She first threw up 3rd Nov for a couple days, then a week later on 10th Nov then more sickness 17th Nov and 21st Nov. I was BESIDE myself with worry. Lasted almost 3 weeks with runny nappies too. Dr said very strange bug. And to top it off. She’s vomited 5 times so far this morning.

Oh @Littletreeboots it’s so worrying isn’t it. Although I’m sorry to hear of everyone else being poorly it has provided some relief

Rota virus can do this when you reintroduce milk products have you fried keeping him right off milk yoghurt and cheese for at least 10 days?

Yes it could be temporary lactose intolerance. I often get this after d&v. Might be worthwhile trying some pro & pre biotics to get the gut back to normal.
