Hidden/secret York

Inspired by the lovely London thread a few months ago ago about our favourite less popular places to visit in the capital.

Off to York for few days and have already done the main sights but do you have any recommendations to avoid the tourist hoards and maybe a nice beer or two!

Will do Christmas market during the week when it might be a bit less busy!

Not sure if it’s a secret or not but The Blue Barbakan is a brilliant Polish restaurant. Make sure you are hungry, the pierogi are fab and plentiful.

Brew york, a bit further down the same road as Blue barbarian. Good beers and fantastic bao buns. Or continue down the road to Walmgate, go through and cross the road. On the right on the road directly in front of you is the rook and gaskillpub.Good beers and great pizza
