Hormones / cycle and relationship - is this a thing..?

NC for this as it’s a bit embarrassing and not something I’d discuss in real life.

I have found in the last few months that my hormones/cycle are very strongly affecting the way I feel about my husband.

It makes sense to me (from a biological perspective) that you’d have a higher sex drive during ovulation. For obvious reasons. And I’ve always found that to be the case, to an extent (particularly since having children). But recently it seems to be much more intense than that.

In the couple of weeks following my period, I end up quite….obsessed with him, I suppose. Always wanting to touch him, speak to him, have sex with him etc. it’s like how I felt when we first started going out, that’s the best way I can describe it.

But we’ve been married 12 years and have young children and honestly, he seems quite bemused at times by it (he’s never cruel or mocking etc but I think he finds it a bit much sometimes). I’m aware that I become quite needy in these periods and I need to work hard to reign myself in. I feel a bit stupid to be honest.

As I said, this lasts for a couple of weeks after the end of my period and then it disappears and it’s all back to normal (and my sex drive is pretty low once it all dials back again).

is this a thing? Can anyone relate?
