... for chilly terriers.
he is 1.72 times the maximum size for a lapdog but he curls up on my fleecy lap and settles his face into the curve of my hand. i have pins and needles, my fingers are stiff, and cold from the moistness of doggy nose guff. i need a second cup of coffee but cannot move, i need to use capital letters sometimes but cannot hit the shift key.
he claims that this is a service to which he is entitled under the animal welfare act 2006. i can't afford a lawyer.

Awww! I'd love it if my dog could sit on my lap, and so would he. Unfortunately, as a 33kg German pointer, he is a lot more than 1.72 times the size for a lapdog. He's all curled up in his bed right now, gently snoring with his nose tucked under his pile of gangly legs!

Giggorata · 09/12/2023 07:50

Can you text someone and get them to knock at the door? That might get him to move, whilst being able to claim innocence.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 09/12/2023 07:56

Awww at the gangly legs. I used to have an italian spinone and when he was lying on his side it looked like he had at least six legs, all of them slightly longer than could possibly make sense.
Dog has vacated my lap now, perhaps because the central heating has kicked in, so I can avoid resorting to the emergency text. I am nothing more than a hot water bottle to him.

My boy dog used my armpit area for this! He loves to have his nose kept warm. My girl less so but she still loves a snuggle.

Loving the doggy sofa line-up. Three full stops and a comma.

Yes, love santas photo.

Pickledog doesn’t do laps. He’s only 1.5 times the size of a lapdog, and would be welcome. He has a preference for the space occupied by my rear end. If I move, he’s in like a shot. If I don’t move, he’s been known to tap at the door in a false flag move designed to get me up so he can steal my seat.

He does however ruin my sleep by curling up behind my knees or on the edge of the bed so I’m afraid of accidentally pushing him out.

But he’s my naughty hound so it’s ok.

There's an Italian spinone in my village. He's a bonkersly large creature, and yes, almost entirely made out of too many legs. He definitely takes his owner for a walk rather than the other way around!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 09/12/2023 08:20

He's been joined by the cat now, who was on my lap but was getting in the way of my knitting!

We also know an Italian spinone, and the owner's spaniel can stroll underneath him without so much as tickling his belly with her tail.

He looks like he's made of haystacks, but once he persuades all his legs to go the same way he really can run.

I want an Italian Spinone now, what handsome dogs.

GoodOldEmmaNess · 09/12/2023 08:26

Here is a pic of my dog trying legalistically to get round my no sofa rule.
I have since caved in compromised on the no sofa rule. But he still prefers to sleep up there on the top while I sit on the human bit. It is a bit like having a parrot on my shoulder

Mine is clearly also having the cold nose problem - he's tucked it under his leg now. The heating us in, but he'll probably start casting meaningful looks towards the fire in a minute, perhaps with the occasional hopeful whine.

Thank goodness we had that ‘absolutely not in bed’ rule… I would never dream of getting a king size bed to make room for a bloody German Shepherd….

PanettonePuff · 09/12/2023 09:01

I mean, she wouldn’t want wrapping up on a cold day, so she could sleep on the sofa that she’s not allowed on. Good job she’s got that double coat of fur…

That made me laugh, Panetone!

We had a no dog in bed rule that failed when he became a terribly needy scaredy-cat one year.

Santaiswashinghissleigh · 09/12/2023 12:06

My ddog actually has extra legs...

Oh, we had SO many rules!! But Shepherds are so clingy ( I haven’t had a wee, shower or bath alone for decades!) It’s like having a really furry 3rd leg!!
Im not the only one, thankfully … it seems we all put up with some form of daft mess - love the idea of the cat on the shoulder like a parrot 😂

PanettonePuff · 09/12/2023 12:10

@Santaiswashinghissleigh

Laughed out loud at this picture… look at his expression, the eyes!!❤️

PanettonePuff · 09/12/2023 12:13

I know we grumble about them all, but yesterday I banged my elbow hard on the marble fireplace and it made me cry… I was “made better” by 5.5 stone of German Shepherd sat in my lap, gentle licking my tears away and whining along with me😱
I ended up laughing!
