I think most people who have had the current virus that's doing the rounds are suffering chesty symptoms. It seems to generate an exceptional amount of mucus compared to the average virus. As long as you can breathe OK I don't think you need worry about going to bed - sleep will do you good. Try extra pillows to prop yourself up as that eases wheezing.

If it doesn't clear up, see the doctor, but it's taking a couple of weeks for most people to shift this one Sad.

The symptoms sound unpleasant but not abnormal for what's going around. Have you tested for Covid? Have you got anyone at home (or friends, family) etc that can check in on you and provide some reassurance for the anxiety.

I don't suffer from health anxiety (though the regular kind pops it head up often enough) but did do a stint at home seriously unwell after a hospital stay once and it was unsettling, although absolutely nothing happened I found it helpful to have someone to check in with before bed and in the morning and to remind myself that really, if anything did seem seriously outside of the norm 111 can be called at any time to assess.

Keep hydrated OP, electrolyte drinks or tablets, vicks or facial steaming and warm baths. Find a tv series to immerse yourself in. It's rubbish but it'll pass.

I am one or two days ahead of you OP with what sounds like exactly the same virus. (Southern England). Loads of people here have it and it's wiping everyone out. I've been in bed all week with it. Covid tests all negative. I had the creaking chest on exhalation yesterday and the day before. It sounds worrying and triggered me too. Apparently it's excess mucus in the lungs or inflammation of the pleura. Never had it before. It didn't happen today but I still feel rubbish x
