Asking someone out?

I flirt with one of my colleagues. I know I do. I can’t tell if he does it back. I’m clueless so I have no clue.

Anyway, we talked about hinge today. The date app. And I said “I saw your profile. It came up on my stack” anyway he then said “no way. Really.” I said “yeah. Now I never need to know what your profile looks like” so he went “you know out of curiosity I’ll have to see if I can find yours now” so I went “yeah obvs” to which he said “well, I could swipe no, and then never know if you liked my profile and then never ever know the answer and ir would just be something I never find out and it would go into the ether. Or I could swipe right and it be funny but also a little awkward at the same time.”

then under the next breath he said “I know you’re probably a born again virgin since your last relationship. But since your ex had a woman’s name. Did you call that out in the bedroom” and I said “that’s so weird. Why do you want to know if I moan his name in the bedroom” he just laughed.

Now, he also did me a huge favour and handed me interview questions for an interview I had so I went in able to answer every question easily. And for that I’m super thankful. I sort of wanted to ask him if he wanted to grab a drink at the pub as my way of saying thanks. But I’m not sure how to ask? Or if I should just not ask.

It sounds to me like he was trying to find out if you swiped right on him. You could ask if he found your profile yet and take it from there?

I’m asking him if he wants to come to the pub tomorrow as a thanks.

Born again virgin? commenting on what you might call out during sex? That's flirting? I'm a bit out of touch I admit but that is the weirdest flirting I've ever come across.

He sounds a bit strange to be honest.

Your conversation was awkward and unot appropriate at work. Are you allowed to date a colleague? He is already breaking rules by giving you interview questions?

ChateauDuMont · 07/12/2023 19:46

Weirdo alert.

Pillboxer · 07/12/2023 19:52

He sounds godawful.

If that’s your idea of flirting, I’d raise my standards. You deserve more.

I think it was genuinely just a stupid comment. I wouldn’t be looking for a serious relationship with him, I suppose I haven’t included any context here either so it makes it much worse😂

Shagging someone from work is a bad idea. Stick to Hinge
