How long were you with DH/DP before babies came along?

Wondering what the average is. If you could, would you change it and try sooner, or have more time as a couple?

7 years. I was 18 when we met though so we had the luxury of time.

8 years before our first had been married for 3 years. I wouldn't change it had fun exploring, travelling etc and we were in the right mindset.

Had friends have their firsts within a year of marriage (married after 3 years on average) and for quite a few it did put a strain on them and some got divorced.

3 and a bit years for DS1, 3 years later for DS2.

Engaged after less than 2 years, Married after 3.... still quite like each other 14 years on Grin

Five years. We got together in our mid-twenties. I think the timing was about right and wouldn’t change it.

Met May 2004 and firstborn came along January 2007. So we'd started trying after almost 2 years together (and it took just one month.)
We married after a decade together.

5 years between meeting DH and DD1 being born.

We'd moved in together after 2 years, engaged at 3 years, married at 4 years and first baby at 5 years together. It was quite a busy period! 😊

I was 29 when I had DD. If I knew we'd fall pregnant easily I'd have probably had a few more years together as a couple before babies came along but my DSis had really struggled to get pregnant so we decided to just go for it. DDs are an absolute delight and I wouldn't change them for the world.

We'd been together 6 years, married 1 ½ when DD was born and DS born almost 2 ½ years later. I was 30 when DD was born and was perfect timing for us. We'd had a chance to travel, buy a house and have job security by then

15 years. I didn't want kids and dh was fine with that until we hit our mid 30s, when he suddenly got broody. I agreed to try for 6 months thinking I was too old and now I'm a mother of two.
