TV feels ridiculous now

Sorry for the long intro and I know have little to be bothering me, but my dad very kindly bought us a new tv a few weeks ago as our old one had stripes across it.

Anyway, I am very grateful but the picture seems too clear now, it’s like I can see how fake it all is and I’m not enjoying it at all anymore.

Its not even the picture (even though I can see the actors pores) it’s like the shooting of it seems really amateur and ridiculous if that makes sense.

I usually love TV and films, but I’m cringing at them now. Did anyone else just go off TV like this? Will I be ok?😁

Have you turned off electronic post-processing and so on?

Most new TV's come with it set to on as standard, and it makes everything look like a badly shot 1990's porn movie.

It's extremely jarring to look at if you aren't used to it.

It is ridiculous that TVs are shipped with this turned on by default. God knows how many people are out there having bought expensive sets wondering why multi-million dollar films look like soap operas!

Oh that’s exactly what it’s like, a bad soap opera!!! I’m cringing watching everything.

Just to update, I changed the settings and it has hugely improved! Thank you all so much.

Im watching Home Alone now, trying to forget how bad it was when it looked so fake.

Yeah we had to switch ours to cinema mode. They’re so good these days they end up looking shit. Ours looked like everything was filmed in video like in the 80’s.

God I was just saying this after we got a new tv to replace our very old one!! It looks like it's people acting in a studio.. I know it is but it didn't look like it before ! DH looked at me like I was crazy when I said this. Going to try and turn it off !

I first noticed this when 3D TVs came out, it just looked like everything was filmed live. Am getting a new TV in new year so thanks all for the info about settings😁

I just watched Titanic and it’s NOT CAL at the top of the stairs at the end of the film. It’s not him!!!!

I can see it now that the TV is bigger and I can actually see his face. I must find that thread about the Titanic asking why he is at the top of the stairs clapping?
