Does anyone know about buyer protection?

I'm ordering something online. It's an online shop not Vinted.

They want to charge me £2 for buyer protection. Apparently this protects against lost or damaged parcels, delayed items.

Surely an online retailer is responsible for ensuring the item gets to you. Would you pay it?

I knew one company that did this, covered returns as well, I didn't use them unless I couldn't get what I wanted anywhere else. I guess there is an element of this in all online sales or delivery charges, it's just shown separately, but it does put you off.
