Constant staph, very painful nose infection with headache/toothache

I've had polyps for years. They are treated with nasal steroid sprays.

For a couple of years now I've had infections in one nostril, stop the steroid spray while it's treated, then re-start.

For the last year the infections have become more frequent. The current one has lasted a few months. I've not taken the steroid spray for a few months (which has caused the 'good' side to also become congested and I have a lot of post-nasal drip.

The infection this time caused a lot of pus from a hole in the nostril. I was prescribed Flucloxacillin, which settled down the hole and the pus disappeared. I finished the course on Friday.

Sunday night/Monday, the infection is back. I can hardly touch my nose on the outside from pain, keep getting a headache on that side and have a lot of golden/yellow crusts/scabs, at the top of my nostril, which bleed if dislodged.

I've been prescribed a bacterial cream for my nose. I was due an operation next month, but am very loathe to have it, until this has completely settled, due to the risk of it infecting a deep, bone wound.

I'm just curious if anyone knows why I only get the infection in one nostril? It's always the same one, the other never seems to have any problems. Is there something inside the nostril that makes it more prone?

The fleshy bit, in front of the septum cartilage is also swollen/has a lump, which didn't go away from the antibiotics.
