Keeping baby safe from toddler

I've got a 6 month yo and a 2.5 year old. Once they are finally both asleep around 8pm I feel a bit nervous popping downstairs, as if my older one wakes up and wonders out his room, he'll see the baby in his cot and climb in. He does this when we're all awake, he can climb into the cot very easily. Any tips on how to stop it? Am I worrying too much? Thanks!

I’d stay on top of it when during the day, so toddler will learn that he cannot do this. And keep an eye on the baby monitor by night.

Baby gates on toddler's room and your room.

Put a baby gate on your bedroom door. Even if he is able to open it, it'll slow him down and you'll hear it clattering on the baby monitor so can go intervene.
