Snap general election?

I’m hearing whispers that this may be announced today, going to the polls in January.

Suella has all but called Rishi out and demanded it

Suella can demand what she likes. It's the resignation of Robert Jenrick that might trigger "no confidence" letters which might in turn trigger an election as the lesser evil than yet another Tory leadership conference.

It's a possiblity but I wouldn't risk money on it.

I also think if there is an election Suella will be lucky to hold on to her seat.

Yes please, ASAP. School bully Suella is toast. She's just Enoch in a dress.

StillWantingADog · 07/12/2023 10:44

Ooh yes please

finally I could have something to look forward to at new year’s eve

i don’t think it’s likely. But in spring it might.

I think an election being the only viable option is the only thing holding back an election being called. Rishi will be using the threat of calling one as his main bargaining chip right now because the Tories are toast if it was called imminently.

Have to say I have absolutely no appetite for a general election, despite everything that's happened. I really don't know who to vote for any more, only thing is it'd give me something to think about in January. Also, I half suspect we'll end up with a hung parliament.

WellWellSaidTheRockingChair · 07/12/2023 11:06

Looks like after all that build up he is just bagging on about why his policy is the right route.

Sunak making a speech on immigration. It won't work IMHO. Obviously this will be a big part of the election campaign. Being bossed around by European courts was one of the main reasons for Brexit.

I expect him to hang on as long as possible. They'll be annihilated whenever it's called and whoever is in charge.

They need to sort out women's rights and protections first, then they can 0121 do one.
