Just wondering if anyone can suggest something festive to do in London for me & DH. We are staying there for a night for our Xmas present to each other and have dinner booked etc but just looking for something to do in the day. Not a show please coz he hates the theatre.

What do you like to do? Fairgrounds, pubs, clubs, lights, what? Narrow it down please.

The first thing that comes to mind is skating at Somerset House, there still seem to be some tickets left.

Lights, exhibitions, fun bars. Pop up shops, street theatre, street food.

Not skating, sadly - I'd love it but DH has terrible balance! 😂

kenwood or kew light trails if you can get tickets (say around 4pm?) not sure of availability or hours

for pop up type things you might need to share date and location of your dinner / hotel etc

South bank is wonderful at Xmas lots of Christmas stalls

An afternoon Christmas tea somewhere like Fortnums or Claridges though might not be availability left. And might be too much given you’ve already booked dinner…
I think SouthBank as pp mentioned is probably the best bet. There’s also Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park if you like that kind of thing or just a wander around Covent Garden or the Christmas Shop at Liberty etc

It didn’t seem so good this year, unless they’ve moved where the stalls are and I missed them.

There’s a lovely but small Christmas market in Trafalgar Square, though.

https://dennissevershouse.co.uk/about/the-house is one of my favourite places in London and it’s particularly lovely at Christmas, though you need to check the opening hours and book. Spitalfields Market is round the corner and there’s tons of restaurants and street food options around there as well as shops and stalls.

Did a day trip to London last Saturday. We hit up the Christmas shops in Anthropologie, veered off into Hamleys, Christmas depts in Harrods, John Lewis, Liberty, Selfridges, Fortnum and Mason. As much Christmas as you could manage!
