Hi, tried to return an item with a receipt but refused as I'd forgotten my clubcard. Looked online at returns policy but no mention of needing the clubcard. Your valuable help would be appreciated uated 😊

It's because they need to take the points back. Ridiculous really but that's Tesco for you🤣

TheFlis · 05/12/2023 08:27

In future get the Tesco app on your phone so you don’t need the card.

Like previous replies it’s to take the points back, I don’t know if they actually do. Anything food related I send a message on Whatsapp and they usually refund that way, but anything else that needs to be taken to the store the first thing they ask for is clubcard.

They take the points back. Seems fair to me or it would be massively abused.

LakeTiticaca · 05/12/2023 08:34

Sounds like bullshit. The barcode on the receipt hold all the information so it should automatically adjust your points balance

saraclara · 05/12/2023 08:35

I've never been asked for my club card when I've returned something to the store. Was yours a particularly high value item?

It's absolutely reasonable for them to deduct the points if so, as every club card member could just keep buying and returning high value stuff to build up their points otherwise..

You'd think so wouldn't you

The item was 27.00, so not vastly expensive, customer service assistant was also particularly rude which didn't help my frustration! Can't find on website it's mandatory to bring ckubcard though. Thanks Al xx

Sainsburys receipt takes points off automatically for refunds.
