I I think Vinted seller has sent me time after cancelling

hello,

last week I ordered a coat for my daughter at an amazing price. Too good to be true kind of deal.

the following morning, when I clicked on the link, the item could not be found. I texted the seller asking if they were real and they didn’t get back to me. Also, the seller was showing as Blocked.

I got in touch With Vinted and they refunded me immediately and cancelled the order.

I have just received a notification from Yodel saying I have an item at my local shop ready for collection.

the date it was sent matches when I placed the order.

I think it wasn’t a scam after all (I never understood what they would get out of it Anyway) and the seller sent me the item. I guess because the order was cancelled, I never received the tracking details saying it had been sent.

I obviously want to pay for the item and was wondering how I Will go about this.

I guess the seller might ask me to make a bank transfer? Has this happened To anyone?

thanks

I’ve paid by PayPal in situations like this or the seller can relist it and you buy the item you’ve already received

@Autumn1990 my partner is currently in this precise situation and doing the same

However OP says seller is blocked so I don't see how she could contact them?

If you don't collect the parcel does it go back to the seller?

I would contact Vinted and ask them to help

Did Vinted maybe blocked her account but she posted it before she realised? Vinted kick people off all the time if they decide they’re sold counterfeit items or something, and there is no recourse even if they can’t show receipts for the real thing. Vinted won’t help if they’ve kicked her off the site and if you’ve no other way to contact the seller then there isn’t anything you can do. If the package has a return address on it then you could send a postal order, or just cash, back to the seller.

Yes, it was the item I ordered. I collected it this morning.

I’ve sent the seller two messages but Vinted have told me that since they’ve been blocked, they won’t be able to see them.

they said they cannot get involved but to feel free to pay them via pay pal or bank transfer if they reach out to me.

I still don’t understand what’s happened. Why did the seller remove the item the following morning and why they were showing as blocked before I even reached out to Vinted.

It just seemed so suspicious to me, it was a seller with no reviews so when I put it all together it looked dodgy.

It was sent via Yodel shop to shop so I have no details from seller and neither does he/she have of me.

If there's no way to contact the seller you have two options-

Keep the coat and if they are able to access Vinted in the future pay then

Don't collect the coat

Before you pay anything you need to make sure it actually is the coat and that the coat is as described.

I once sold a item to someone in another country. Got a email from Royal Mail saying I had to collect an item. I thought my item hadn't sent so I refunded 🤦‍♀️ it was a completely different item I collected. Luckily the buyer wasn't a dick and paid again. And that's how I learnt that if you purchase jewellery from America off Etsy there is a tax to pay.

You have to pay import tax on almost everything.

I ordered an expensive piece of equipment for my business from abroad, and was expecting to have to go down and pay quite a large sum in import tax but on the form, the supplier had written “free sample” and I didn’t have anything to pay! Big risk for them if it had gone missing and I’ve no idea how they got away with it because I thought it was the value of the items posted and not what the person has paid for them, but they got away with it.
