Started with ‘the cold’… I’ve gone from fine to feeling dreadful in the space of 4 hours!

Woke up this morning, sneezed a couple of times and nose was running. Felt fine, been to work gone about my day as usual. I’ve got home and it has hit me. I feel freezing, totally lethargic and no appetite all of a sudden and sneezing repeatedly. Is this what this horrible cold that everyone’s talking about is like?

Whenever I get a cold it usually comes on over the course of several days and slowly. This one’s hit me like a tonne of bricks! And at the start of the working week 😩

Covid

RoseAndRose · 04/12/2023 17:53

Go home

Rest. A lot.

It may well be covid, so rest some more.

Is there someone to keep an eye on you?

Flu comes on quickly like that, as does Covid.

I had this the beginning of the week, then it went by wed Evening.
Was fine Thursday, then Friday my voice randomly went around 2pm, and all weekend I've been coughing up gunk & it's all gone to my chest with a tickly cough.
So prepare yourself for round 2!

I hope you feel better soon!

I’ve currently got Covid and it’s Been exactly like that. I’m still testing positive 8 days since it first came on. I suspect many have Covid right now and think it’s just flu/cold.

Movinghouseatlast · 04/12/2023 18:26

I had exactly that and it was Covid. I was ill for 5 weeks. It's important not to push through if you have bad symptoms. Rest as much as possible.

A 'cold' is being snuffly, a bit of a cough, sore throat. It's not being totally floored, that's flu or Covid.

sneezed a couple of times and nose was running.
I have had Covid twice
This is exactly how it started both times.

Ohnoitsfinallyhappened · 04/12/2023 18:27

Yes COVID in our house hold and sounds just like that , currently at the lots of gunk and no voice stage!

dooberydah · 04/12/2023 21:00

Thanks everyone. I work with children so I feel a bit bad about going to work tomorrow but I also don’t want to ring in sick for a cold! I’ve no evidence it’s Covid yet but I do feel a bit rough
