Best place to sell gold?

I've got some old jewellery to sell and am looking for recommendations, preferably a postal service. If not postal, Scotland is probably easiest.

It's mostly plain gold, but one item is a bracelet which also has small rubies, emeralds and a diamond - not sure if that should be sold separately?

Any advice gratefully received, thanks.

Avoid vintage cash cow id my only advice.
They offered a ridiculously small amount, said the stones didn't count, only the gold did. And lost the certificate of authenticity I sent in with one piece.

EBay. If you sell it to gold shops you will get about half the price it sells for

Thanks both. It's interesting about the piece with stones - I wondered if that might be the case.

Some of the pieces are really old fashioned (signet ring for example), do people buy that kind of stuff on eBay?

Yes and if you look on the site and sort by used you will also see what they sell for

I sold a bunch of unwanted and broken gold jewellery a while ago. I did it via post and got a good price. I had the stones removed and kept them just in case I wanted to do something with them later (which I've never got around to).

I know you said a postal service but I took mine to a local independent jeweller. Walked in without an appointment, weighed it in front of me, gave me a price with no consultation fee or obligation to buy. Got paid there and then. Only took 15 minutes!

Thanks everyone, off to investigate all these options.
