Feeling sad about Christmas

I usually bloody love Christmas so this is very strange for me, and making it even worse. It’s hit me out of the blue.

3dc, and we’ve bought them gifts they will love. I know they will have the best time so long as my misery doesn’t ruin it.

I just feel sad. My granny died in August. She was 97 and her quality of life in the last 6 months were awful so I was relieved she was at peace. I was sad at her funeral obviously but I thought I was okay after. Suddenly, today we were putting up our Christmas tree and the grief hit me. I don’t know where it came from. She’s been part of Christmas for 40 years of my life and suddenly she’s not. I keep crying. I’m not really a crier usually.

The 1st of everything since a bereavement is always the worst imo. The 1st birthday, Christmas, anniversary etc bring your loss into focus.
Cry if you need to and don't give yourself a hard time for your totally understandable feelings.
