Cracking noise in face

I've noticed just recently that when I yawn or make certain facial expressions that my face cracks! Its not my jaw, it sounds/feels like it's coming from my nose. I'm super anxious anyway and have bad health anxiety and OCD so I am Panicking. What is it?? Is it normal?! Anyone?

Sinus? Mine pops and crackles sometimes.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 03/12/2023 21:36

If it is a small crack like someone moving in a wicker chair then probably your sinuses.

Laiste · 03/12/2023 21:39

Yep. It's the fluid in your sinus' shifting.

When mine are a bit bunged up they 'click' when i lay down. Or get up. Basically when i change the way gravity is for the fluid. Tipping my head right back will do it as well.

When you move your face about you're squeezing and releasing the sinus tubes.

Yes that's exactly why it's like. Its like near my nose but my face if that makes sense? I feel it and I hear it but no pain.

Yeah, I get it occasionally - especially after a cold or in dry cold weather. It's nothing to worry about, I find drinking hot drinks helps.

I'm in bed.nkw and it feels like it's my actual nostrils that are making small crackly/whistle sounds and I can actually feel it too. Its weird. I'm.wlrrid to sleep now cos my anxiety has me thinking it's something serious and I should.get help.

It's nothing serious

Dilbertian · 03/12/2023 23:27

Yup, I get this, too. Weird, but painless and harmless. If it disturbs me and stops me from falling asleep then I just get up and go for a potter around the house. Gravity presumably helps whatever fluids are causing the crackling to drain into a different location, because when I lie down again it's gone.

If its any help my nose/sinuses sort of tick/click sometimes. V v v odd. But stops on its own.

ForevermoreAnxious · 03/12/2023 23:33

Now I'm.in bed and laid down I'm not sure if the noise is coming from my nose or my throat. What a night mare facepalm

If its any help it's happened to me on and off occasionally for years it's v random.

I've also had a head and neck scan for something totally different (and was clear) and nothing odd was spotted in sinuses then. If that's any reassurance?

I mean by all means keep and eye on it and speak to someone if you like but would out good money on it not being a serious issue Flowers
