If you were a car key where would you be?

We've checked all the obvious places. It's not in the key bowl, any drawers, bags, coat pockets, trouser pockets, on any worktops, under sofa cushions, in the car. We do have a 1 year old but we've checked everywhere we can think that he could have put it!

In the washing machine or tumble drier.

Dressing gown pocket?

In DHs pocket at his work along with all the other fucking keys.

In the cupboard, where all the coffee, milk and tea and sugar etc are

I'd be in the washing basket, having slipped out of a pocket, and ready to go into the washing machine.

Shopping bags with Christmas presents in that have been put away to be wrapped later? Or 'empty' bags that are under the sink/back in the car?

Pocket of your "shaket" that you forgot had a pocket so didn't search!
Or box where you store the Xmas decorations at work or home (if you've already put them up). Both place where my car keys have turned up over the years!

Does your child have a play kitchen? Friend once found her car key only after taking the play kitchen apart.

Maybe it had gone down the plug hole, maybe her nasty then-husbsnd had hidden it, who knows?

Lots of good suggestions, genuinely trying all the ones that apply but nothing so far!

My husband drove it last but he's terrible for not putting things where they belong, we're both stumped this time though. Really hope it's not gone in the bin

I once found my keys, inside a boot, in our shoe cabinet. Courtesy of my then toddler.

I lost mine earlier and it was in the car - had been there all night I checked twice but it was hidden under the hand break

Once you get it back, stick an air tag or a tile onto it to save future hassle!

100% agree with looking everywhere your DH says he's already looked. That's how I find 99% of everything that has been declared 'lost' in our house.

What did he have in his hands when he came in?
where did he go once home?
I have more luck finding things by thinking than searching

Last week I found mine when I took my bra off to go to bed!

My DD hid them once in a saucepan in the saucepan draw and put another pan on top (she says 3 and didn't want us to go away for a night away).

I have found my keys in the recycling bin, in a wellington boot under the coat hooks, and in the bag-for-life with all the wild bird food.

In an advent calender! That was where my front door key turned up 3 days later!

In the zipped pockets of a bag / backpack.

In a shoe / under the shoe rack.

Beside your phone charger.

Always in the coat pocket I've checked at least 3 times. Or it's gremlins moving them
