Do you make mulled wine? What’s your recipe ?

I stopped on my way home and bought red wine and orange juice. Then I got home and googled and it seems I’ve confused mulled wine with sangria.

Google recipes are many and varied, so if you have a winner I’d love to hear it.

Merlot, warmed slowly over several hours (try in the slow cooker) with 1/3 same quantity of water, cinnamon sticks, star anise, unwaxed washed orange slices, orange zest, and whatever other spices I feel like adding. The secret ingredient is honey.

Going to try adding some brandy to it this year at the end.

Thank you Tommalot that sounds achievable

I'm seeing mentions of port, orange liquor etc it’s all far more involved than I’d anticipated

Drive to Lidl, buy bottle of gluewein, drive home, pour into mug, heat in microwave for a minute .... yum!

I use a bottle of whatever nice-ish red if in offer, about half/third bottle of water. Double/triple if you want more.

Squeeze in 1 big orange and pop in some slices. About 4 tablespoons of caster sugar, taste though if you want it more or less sweet. Then a stick of cinnamon, a star anise, some nutmeg and some mixed spice. Heat it on low without a lid and do not let it bubble even slightly. Then I turn it off and let it sit and reheat when I want it. Delicious and easy!

Ooh yes nutmeg! Enjoying grating it fresh this year over creamy whole milk instead of an evening dessert and am losing weight!

Thanks guys. I’m going in again. You will see from my slow response that yesterdays effort was a success 🥴
