Just lit a wood burning stove- does this fire look right?

Just lit a wood burning stove in a holiday rental. It looks and smells a bit fierce. Is this right?

There's no adjustment knob on the front like the old fashioned ones have...

You have to heat the flue in order for them to draw properly. Do you have any instructions/can you find them online as they're all slightly different.

Looks fine to me, it’ll die down. I let mine go right down then just add one log - keeps us toasty

If it's all cold start with just a small amount of fuel, one log - small fire to heat the stove and flue. It will draw more efficiently as it heats up.
